Terrafibre™ weed suppressant product is a non-woven hemp matting that is 100% biodegradable. The matting is used in establishing trees and shrubs, and suppressing invasive weeds in a variety of landscape situations. This thick 1000 grams per square metre matting, allows zero light penetration, which effectively prevents soil erosion, suppresses weeds, preserves soil moisture and insulates plants from temperature highs/lows ensuring establishment. DESCRIPTION

Terrafibre™ tree squares improve the growth and survival of a tree seedling by preventing weeds from germinating or growing. Placed on the soil around the base of a tree seedling, Terrafibre™ protects seedlings from competitive weeds stealing light, nutrients, and moisture. The insulation properties of hemp ensure protection from temperature extremes, providing an ideal growing environment for a tree seedling.

INSTRUCTIONS

Take one Terrafibre™ Tree Square.

Place square around tree seedling, ensuring both edges in slit are touching.

Hammer two stakes in diagonal corners to firmly secure square.

Terrafibre™ Tree Squares will suppress unwanted weeds while promoting seedling growth.

What material are the Tree Squares made of?

The Terrafibre Tree Squares are made from Canadian Grown Hemp Fibres. The mats also have a natural, biodegradable cellulose backing.

What sizes are the Tree Squares available in?

Currently our Tree Squares are available in 12” x 12”, 16” x 16” and 18” x 18”.

How thick are the Tree Squares?

The tree squares are ¾ inch to 1 inch thick. We use 1kg of hemp per square meter of matting.

Why is hemp a good choice for suppressing weeds and protecting tree seedlings?

Terrafibre Tree Squares protect seedlings from competitive weeds stealing light, nutrients, and moisture. The thickness and tight weave of the mat suppresses light and growth from below while still allowing moisture to penetrate.

How long do the Tree Squares take to biodegrade?

The Tree Squares are 100% biodegradable and estimated to take 3-4 years to break down, providing your tree seedling with protection prior to biodegrading.

How do you install the Tree Square?

The Terrafibre Tree Squares are lighter and easier to apply than mulches. Simply slip a Terrafibre square around the base of an individual tree seedling and hammer two stakes in diagonal corners to firmly secure the square.
